As ICT and Office Manager, I aim to keep everything running smoothly behind the scenes, from managing data protection and tech support to coordinating governance and office logistics. I enjoy the variety and challenge the role brings and especially enjoy projects that involve collaboration with my colleagues. My goal is to develop a well organised, secure, and efficient environment that helps all members of the organisation do their best work.
Sharan has over 30 years’ experience working in the not-for-profit/charity sector, leading organisations for over two decades. Sharan’s work focuses on vulnerable and marginalised people and communities and has spanned across Ireland, Africa, Asia, and the Middle East. Sharan has extensive experience as a statutory director and chairperson of local, national, European, and international alliances in Ireland, UK, EU and beyond. Sharan took up the role of Chief Executive of Tosú in June 2022 and is leading Tosú towards greater outcomes and impact to the lives of our clients, their families and communities.
I worked for years as a radio journalist and trainer. My job with Tosú aims to support our teams to build our networks and influence policy. One day I could be at a sports coaching graduation in Cork prison, another I might be organising a meeting with officials in the Department of Justice to talk about job opportunities for people with criminal convictions. I love a good podcast, especially getting to learn about the experience of life in prison and I hope to work with our clients in the future to make podcasts together.
As Operations Manager for Community Based Services, it is my privilege to lead a dedicated team of professional Training and Employment Officers in their intensive work with clients. I listen, synthesize, and partner with my team to develop and implement innovative approaches to client work. I love that I get to work with so many smart people who are brimming with ideas and passion. Every day, I get to see the transformational results of smart people collaborating on solving complex problems.
As Operations Manager for prisons I am responsible for the development and delivery of our prison based services – The Resettlement Service, Gate Service and Community Support Scheme. I am
passionate about creating the conditions that support change, be that around access to housing, welfare or employment. Much of my role is developmental, working across prisons and service functions it is about developing support systems that bridge prison and community. Although challenging, I love the variety that each new day brings as we continually strive to improve outcomes for the people we work with, their families and the wider community.
I am an Associate CIPD with a BA (Hons) in Human Resource Management Strategy and Practice, NCI (2017). I have worked in Tosú since 2012 to establish and develop our HR function, which is responsible for recruitment, payroll, staff training, compliance, employee engagement, performance management and policy development. The enthusiasm and drive of our staff to work alongside those with a criminal conviction to move a step closer to successful resettlement in the community or into training, education or employment is inspirational. I always enjoy meeting prospective candidates at interview and learning more about the wealth of knowledge and experience they possess and the passion they bring to their work regardless of the challenges that are faced.
